The Site
Lombard Square is located on 17.7 acres of vacant former industrial land. Once the home of Arsenal Football Club, the site has become desolate and neglected in recent years. Lombard Square shall transform this. Utilising the excellent local transport links to Plumstead Station and the newly opened Woolwich Elizabeth Line Station, the site will become a destination providing 1,913 homes, commercial spaces, a new 1.8 acre park and community gardens.

1888
The first home of Arsenal Football Club, the Manor Ground, is located on the Lombard Square site.
1913
Arsenal Football Club relocate to Highbury in North London. The Manor Ground is subsequently demolished and the site becomes part of the Royal Arsenal.
1950s
The Ford Motor Company open a factory on the site manufacturing motor components.
2016
Industry remains as the prominent land use on site throughout the latter half of the 20th century before declining in the new millennium until the last remaining building on site, a Plastic Bag Recycling Centre, is demolished.
2017
Peabody select Berkeley Homes as the preferred development partner to deliver the redevelopment of the Lombard Square site.
2021
Together Berkeley and Peabody secure planning permission from Royal Borough of Greenwich for a landscape-led masterplan comprising of 1,750 homes and providing a number of benefits to the local community.
2022
Construction commences on the first phase of the Lombard Square development.
2023
Berkeley and Peabody secure approval for an additional 163 homes taking the sitewide total to 1,913, including 765 (40%) affordable homes.
2025
The first residents move into Lombard Square following the completion of the first private and affordable homes as well as the new 1.8 acre four seasons public park.
